A disk-based column store is added to SAP HANA SPS 09 that makes it easy to manage warm data. The new multi-tier storage will help handle large volumes of data ranging from terabytes to petabytes seamlessly. It will also facilitate enterprise-grade Big Data analytics without reliance on Hadoop architecture.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR)

Improved Administration and Monitoring

SAP HANA SPS 09 comes with two web-based tools, namely: SAP HANA Cockpit and SAP DB Control Center. Cockpit deals with monitoring and administration of a single SAP HANA Database. DB Control Center helps manage several SAP databases both in cloud and data center environments.

Workload management

SPS 09 allows better management capabilities for resource consumption and control parallelism through improved workload management capabilities. It is achieved by avoiding over-commitment of CPUs, do-restart in the case of HANA responsiveness, uncontrolled memory consumption, etc.

Refurbished developer experience

Data modeling, development tools, SQL Script and Programming model have been refurbished in order to provide a refreshing developer experience. SQL Script tooling will include editor, debugger, and SQL Script Language. The development tools have been modified to improve interaction between existing tools to improve the overall developer experience. Other miscellaneous improvements include New Mozilla VM, usage statistics, New Thread Model and OData execution tracking.
