Working with SAP HANA Studio

    • If you’re already versed with Eclipse IDE, then the SAP HANA studio is something that you would be already comfortable with. Basically, SAP HANA studio is an Eclipse-based tool that acts as an exclusive development environment for building SAP HANA applications. The HANA system is divided by SAP HANA into two, the central development environment and the main administration tool for HANA system.

      Features of SAP HANA Studio IDE (Integrated Development Environment)

      • It is a software tool for the client which can be used to build SAP HANA applications and access local or remote HANA system.
      • It also acts as an environment for HANA Administration, HANA Information Modeling and Data Provisioning in HANA database.

      Operating Systems that are compatible with SAP HANA Studio:

      Since SAP HANA Studio is basically a java-based eclipse platform, it is compatible with almost all the popular operating systems. Following are the different operating systems supported for SAP HANA studio installation,

      • Microsoft Windows
        • 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows XP
        • 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista
        • 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7
        • SUSE Linux
          • x86 64 bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES11

      However, HANA studio client is not compatible with any Mac operating systems.

      Installation of SAP HANA Studio:

      The features of SAP HANA is subject to the platform where it is installed on. At the time of Studio installation, specify the features you want to install as per the role. To work on a most recent version of HANA studio, Software Life Cycle Manager can be used for the client update.

      Flexible Perspectives

      You can utilize the feature of SAP HANA Studio called perspectives to work on the following HANA features. You can choose Perspective in HANA Studio from the following option −

      HANA Studio → Window → Open Perspective → Other

      Sap Hana Studio Administration

      This studio toolset is useful while performing various administration tasks, excluding transportable design-time repository objects. General troubleshooting tools like tracing, the catalog browser and SQL Console are also included.

      Database Development

      SAP HANA Studio comes with user-friendly database development environment which provides an excellent set of tools for content development. It addresses, in particular, the DataMarts and ABAP on SAP HANA scenarios, which do not include SAP HANA native application development (XS).

      Application Development

      The ultimate purpose of SAP HANA studio is to develop customized applications to work with SAP HANA computing engine. SAP HANA system contains a small Web server, which can be used to host small applications. It provides Toolset for developing SAP HANA native applications like application code written in Java and HTML.
