Exporting and Importing

    • Exporting and importing options in SAP HANA System allows the movement of tables, Information models, Landscapes to and from the different or existing system. Need not recreate all the tables and Info models in the new system with the help of exporting feature inbuilt in your SAP HANA System.

How to export table/Info model in the SAP HANA Studio?

You can access the export option in the SAP HANA Studio by simply right-clicking on any table or Info model under the File menu.

How to export the options under SAP HANA content to a different system?

We can transport the options with the help of ‘Delivery Unit’ in the SAP HANA System. Delivery unit is a single unit that can be mapped easily with multiple packages. These mapped delivery units can be exported as a single entity so that all the packages assigned to Delivery Unit can be treated as the single unit. Multiple packages can be exported with the help of this option that makes a delivery unit and the relevant objects contained in it to a HANA Server or to the local Client location.

This can be done through HANA Modeler → Delivery Unit → Select System and Next → Create → Fill the details like Name, Version, etc. → OK → Add Packages to Delivery unit → Finish

Once the Delivery Unit is created and the packages are assigned to it, user can see the list of packages by using Export option −

Go to File → Export → Delivery Unit →Select the Delivery Unit.

You can see a list of all packages assigned to Delivery unit. You can also choose any of the below options specified there,

      • Export to Server
      • Export to Client

You can either export the mapped delivery units to the SAP HANA Server location or to the respective Client location. However, you can also restrict the export through “Filter by time” which means Information views, which are updated within the mentioned time interval will only be exported.

Once you’ve chosen the delivery unit to be exported and specified the location of export, Click Next → Finish. This will export the selected Delivery Unit to the specified location.

What are the modes I can choose while exporting the delivery units?

      Developer Mode

You can use the developer mode while exporting the delivery units to your desired location in the local system. Also, can select single Information view or group of Views and Packages and select the local Client location for export and Finish.

      Support Mode

By choosing ‘Support Mode’, you can export the objects along with the data for SAP support purposes.
