What Is Needed To Succeed In The Domain Of Web Development?
Most of us are more or less familiar with the term called web developers. Even though we have heard the term, most of us have a pretty vague idea about the actual scope of their work and job responsibilities. You would be surprised to know that the job of a web developer has many dimensions. Before we venture out to discuss about the different roles they play, let us first understand the basics of this job.
Job Description
The basic job which every web developer undertakes is to provide an innovative design framework and layout for the website. Everything within the website starting from the concept all the way up to the site layout is the brain child of the web developer. He should be capable and efficient enough to write efficient code and create a website layout by using standard HTML practices. The job of a user interface developer also demands him to integrate various types of data from backend databases so that he can create and maintain software documentation. At the end of the day it is his primary duty to ensure that he is able to carefully maintain the client’s site by applying current industry trends and technologies into the website which would make it work more efficiently.
Skill Set and Educational Requirements
Let us make it clear that skill sets is quite different and independent of educational qualifications. In order to become a user interface developer a candidate must have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or institution. A basic and good understand about programming languages and graphics software is important to ensure that he can handle the technical aspect of the job. Front End Developer
The job of a front end developer is to build the client side of the application and look after its maintenance. It can’t be said that it is a very easy or exciting job but it definitely has more scope, opportunities and opening in comparison to other jobs in this domain. If you wish to become a front end developer you should have a thorough knowledge about JavaScript, CSS and HTML. Your value is increased not solely depending upon your degree but on the fact as to how rich and interactive website you can build for your clients.
Back End Developer
The job of a back end developer is much more tedious and difficult than that of a front end developer. He is primarily responsible for maintaining server side of the application which usually encompasses the server, dataset and the application. The efforts are not visible to the end user but their support is very crucial in ensuring that the website functions smoothly. In order to become back end developer a candidate must poses sufficient knowledge in SQL, PHP and Python. PHP is basically a server side language which plays a big role behind the functioning of pages like Facebook and Wikipedia. Knowledge about SQL helps the candidate to manage database, while Python helps them to ensure that the program written on the server is efficient and readable.
User Interface Developer
There is not much difference between a front end developer and a user interface developer. The primary difference in their domain of work lies in the fact that a user interface developer works in improving the aesthetics of the website more than writing the functional codes. In order to become a user interface developer, the candidate should have sufficient knowledge about JavaScript and XML which would help them to deal with technologies related to data transfer and front end interference.
