In the online computing field, mistakes can prove to be costly and can also mean low web conversions. Such errors are pathways to dangerous pitfalls and have to be avoided in order to progress in the web world. UI design has the power to make a winning website or letting it down and failing to make any impact.

Let us analyze some fatal User Interface (UI) mistakes that can slowly but surely kill your UI design.

o   Poor Headlines- After glancing at the brand logo, a web user moves on quickly to the main headlines in the web page. This fact was confirmed by popular tracking software, which analyzes how people glance at websites. Just like the alphabet F; that is most popular pattern of user reading. Headlines are meant to be eye-catching; they should be able to grab the interest of the reader to read ahead. Long, dull, exaggerated and out of the context headlines do not impress. Short, brisk, even humorous and to the point headlines gain good quality user attention. Target keywords should also be used so as to connect with the users.

o   Just Text- Humans love visual appeal. A great example is the popularity of movies and movie stars. Most of us prefer to view rather than read. Therefore, creating only reading texts won’t suffice, nowadays UI developers and designers get access to great variety of software tools and languages to create fantastic visual effects in websites. The trick to entice users can be done by using a healthy and good quality combination of following three elements:

o   Mixing UX and UI- New developers and website designers often confuse UX with UI. They are two different things, while UI is user interface, UX stands for user experience. UI is the user’s interaction with interfaces and is just part of the whole user experience. Developers have to focus on both UI and UX in a separate manner. Combining both user interface with user experience can help get real good designs. A professional designer has to utilize both concepts in the right way. Designers need to create something special that is user-friendly to gain optimum user interaction, while at the same time ensuring that the user experience is not compromised in any way

o   Complex Design- Designing is an art, one should never go ‘over the hill’ with a website design. Complex and difficult designs tend to complicate matters and confuse the users. It is best to keep it easy, focused and simple, especially for smart phone oriented users.

o   Slow Response- Today’s users do not have the time or the patience to deal with slow loading web-pages and poor responsiveness. The lengthy response time can actually kill your UI design and operations, as the competition is severe and every successful website have taken the effort to perk up their responsiveness. A smart and simple design is definitely quicker and ensures consistent user-website interaction. Optimize your loading speed and do not employ useless and bulky objects on your page.

Sometimes developers spoil a well designed web page with too many clicks. Users can lose patience after 2 or 3 clicks, to reach a particular destination. It is better if designers provide access to all the subpages via a short pathway. Few buttons on the homepage leading to link pages with tiny buttons will be sufficient.  Even high resolution images can take a long time to load leading to reduced page speed. A smart UI developer should develop a website with compressed images for obtaining optimum load time. Good interfaces certainly increase usability and greatly improve the user outlook towards an online website
