Imagine the world where you have everything but don’t have aesthetics in them.  It would be a terrible thing and none of us would actually like to be a part of such a world. Even in the world of science and technology aesthetics play a very big role. The job of a user interface developer is to infuse these aesthetics in the model of a website which would make it more appealing for the general public. Most of the times, these aspects of the user experience is not visible to the  user but play a big role in ensuring that a smooth user interaction is made possible.

Actual Responsibility of a User Interface Developer

User interface is not a single concept. It works in conjunction with a variety of other factors. The job of user interface developer typically requires him to determine the functional requirements of the client and then to provide a user analysis of the various scenarios. Once the analysis part is over his duty requires him to produce a conceptual design of the underlying business model along with the logical and physical design.

Once the designing part is completed the UI developer is required to develop interactive screen mocks and build the application around the design. The last phase involves user testing and accessibility testing with different automated tools.

Basic Requirements for Becoming a User Interface Developer

In order to make it big in the world development, you need to think from the point of a view of respective users. Talking about design, there are huge varieties of design in this domain. It is important you are able to figure out which domain you actually want to specialize in. Once that is figured out make sure you have a good enough working knowledge with Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator. If you gain some experience with other software’s like Sketch, Design tuts, Lynda and Skillshare then your prospects would only shine brighter.

Once you find yourself armed with all these tools then you main focus should be upon creating applications that can fit in all screen and gather real world data from target users. Using social network data to collaborate ideas with business leaders is a good plan which can help you to create more interactive UI charts and designs.

Last but not the least always keeps yourself updated with the latest happenings in your domain of knowledge and pay adequate attention to your soft skills regarding leadership and project management.

Salary

Like any job the job of a user interface developer has multiple levels. When you begin your career in this domain do expect anything more than $25 per hour or an average yearly salary more than $70,000. As you progress to various ranks and gain substantial experience and knowledge your salary would rise up from $ 25 per hour to $90 per hour. Senior User Interface developers claim a 6 figure income in the range of $110,000 yearly.

When you are aspiring to become a user interface developer remember that having the right skill set is not enough. Read books and talk to seniors from the industry who has been doing this job for quite some time. One good thing about this job is that companies have finally woken up to the fact that they need a solid user interface that can translate wireframes and visual designs into engaging experiences.

Fortunately the line between front and back end user interface developers is blurring significantly and the demand for user interface designers and developers shall see an upward trend as long as consumer facing products are being developed. However, before you jump into this domain research well as the subject is quite vast and has different stages and you should be absolutely sure about which area you are comfortable working in instead of following the crowd blindly.
