With effect from April 3, US Government has suspended issuance of premium H1B visas. This suspension is declared as a temporary one and may last up to six months.
What is Premium H1B visa?
Typically, a regular H1B visa application takes 2 to 6 months duration to process. To avoid this duration, the applicant can opt for premium processing. By paying an additional $1225, he/she can expect a fastened processing time thereby acquiring visa within 15 days. Most of applicants and organizations applying for H1B visas tends to choose this option.
What's the impact?
With suspension on premium processes, many visa applications would take a delay of more than 6 months. This is the same for those who intends to renew their H1B visa status that are about to expire. As the situation gets more complex, the companies would struggle to send talents from overseas to US through on-site projects.
