Development Connection of SAP BODS 4.2 with Hadoop decoded…

It is evident that the SAP BODS and the business intelligence platform now defines various methods, tools and processes to improve the performance and profit of an organization across the world. It also, covers forward-thinking processes like planning and prognoses and is particularly important for compliance, audits, controls and international accounting standards, financial reporting and corporate governance.

BI solution is needed when dealing with retrograde analyses of structured data from business applications like ERP or CRM systems. In these cases, data is stored in a data warehouse. Analytical systems transform the data into information. Data is accessed via a BI portal, SAP Business Objects (SAP BO). SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence (BI) platform provides flexible systems management for an enterprise BI standard that allows administrators to confidently deploy and standardize their BI implementations on a proven, scalable, and adaptive service-oriented architecture. SAP Business Objects Data Services provides for ETL (Extraction Transformation and Loading), Data warehousing, Data Migration and Business Intelligence.

Advantages

SAP HANA for real-time reporting and structured data supplementing the BI solution with in-memory technology like SAP HANA can help companies analyze structured big data in real time. The technology can be used for activities such as real-time reports, detailed simulations and queries on mobile end-devices.

Unlike enterprise BI, in-memory solutions store data directly in the working memory instead of on a hard drive, making data almost immediately accessible for processing, evaluation and use. But the technology alone is not enough. Combining it with process know-how is what creates added value and can make increase performance by up to a hundred times, a plan-build-run approach so to speak. High-performance appliances like SAP HANA do not store all of the data in the server"s memory. These appliances are based on a shared nothing architecture that divides up the total amount of data into packets of equal size and then stores them on different nodes of cluster, whether that is in a single node standup appliance or scale out multi-thread node architecture. The sub data packets are first processed locally and then compiled to generate an overall result. This approach can be scaled to meet demand of a perspective customer’s requirement.

SAP BODS provides a very easy and efficient interface to perform these specialized tasks which involve data manipulation. The objects and functions within BODS are specifically designed to perform manipulations and transformation of huge complex volumes of data very efficiently and have very good compatibility with SAP applications. This is especially the case were customers are looking for an infrastructure such as HADOOP that provides added value in handling not only terabytes but petabyte/zettabytes of data in a seamless fashion in a multi-clustered architecture.

Hadoop analyzes unstructured information as well. Companies can use Hadoop to process extremely high volumes of structured and unstructured data. Hadoop is a Java-based software framework that helps users handle compute-intensive processes on server clusters with large data volumes. Hadoop allocates complex computational tasks with data volumes in the petabyte range to thousands of computer nodes.
