The 2015 release makes visual Studio 2015 further developer-friendly and flexible for quick programming. It has features that will simplify coding chores by reducing the number of tasks/steps that developers have to do to achieve output.

Quick-Launch for prompt searches

Search boxes have been a default presence in almost all Microsoft products. The Quick-Launch box in Visual Studio 2015 is a slightly advanced form of a search box. It enables programmers to quickly launch a search for menu commands, files, settings, menu commands, Nuget packages and most of everything that will have to be reached for quickly while coding. The keyboard shortcut for using the Quick launch function is Ctrl + Q.

Support for multiple programming languages

As an out of the box programming solution, Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 is built within with several popular programming languages including C, C++, VB.NET, HTML/XHTML, CSS, Java, etc. In case the programming language of your choice is not in the default list, it can always be integrated with the TextMate bundle. To add a new programming language using TextMate, simply add the bundle of the language to the extensions directory. The language features will be activated when a relevant file format is opened.

Navigation made fuss-free

Moving faster in an IDE is critical for a programmer’s productivity. To facilitate that the 2015 release is bolted with the Navigation/GoTo feature which enables a programmer to quickly find his way to files, classes, members or symbols in a given solution. The quick navigation feature can be triggered using Ctrl + comma keyboard shortcut. On using the shortcut, an output box propped on the top right corner will be highlighted for use.

Shift codes Up and down

Alt-Up/Down arrow will now enable programmers to shift their codes up and down. The programmer can select a code line and press Alt + Up/Down button to move the code. If no code lines are selected, the function will move the empty line as it is. A handy feature where one task needs to realign before another.

Diagnostics while Debugging

During debugging, a serious amount of processor memory is used. The new Diagnostic Tools Window helps track the diagnostics of memory usage, object loading speed, etc. real time. Programmers can take screen shots of the diagnostics at various points in time of the debugging to check for leaks in the application where memory consumption is high. Consequently, it helps in plugging lapses to make the application light-weight in memory usage.

Preview code without opening files

A programmer inevitable has to open and close numerous files to refer and write a single line of code. This affects the programming sessions as it as it leaves behind too many files open which consumes memory and slows down the system. With the new preview code feature, programmers can refer to a single line of code in a file without having to step into the file. The preview tab on the right side of the document makes quick peek into codes in other files easy and hassle free.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 is a new version of the Studio series that programmers must get a good grip on. The new version will give programmers better output for their investment of time and energy.
