Course Overview: Linux is an operating system (OS) that allows the user (you) greater flexibility and control. It’s also a heck of a lot safer with tighter security measures but we’ll get into that in a minute. Linux is an alternative to your standard Windows or Mac OS. It’s software that allows you to run applications and perform desired functions on your computer. If you didn’t have Windows on your computer, how would you do anything? You can’t. You need an operating system.
