Three new things of ORACLE 19c

Three new things to know about ORACLE 19c

In the recent interview of ORACLE magazine, Dominic Giles, master product manager for Oracle Database at Oracle, shared some of the top features in their new Oracle Database 19c.

So what’s Oracle Database 19c, ORACLE database 19c, is a tool which offers security to customer’s operational and analytical workloads, and its new features are the following:

  1.       Automatic Indexing
  2.       Active Data Guard DML Redirect
  3.        Hybrid Partitioned Tables
  1.       Automatic Indexing:

“For the first time ever, a database can determine for itself the optimal set of indexes for your dataset, that means, you can start the database without any, or with very few, indexes, and over a short period of time, the database will look at the way the data is queried and build indexes to provide efficient access plans for that dataset.”

-says Giles

1. Using machine learning, algorithms are created to adjust indexes in order to improve the performance and to be cost-effective

2. Automatic indexing can work with an existing database, where it can help fine-tune the collective indexes in the database.

3. Automatic indexing ensures the reduction of cost.

  1.       Active Data Guard DML Redirect:

1. In ORACLE 19c, the Active Data Guard DML Redirect is designed to do transactions against the standby database.

2. Giles says, “a lot of reporting applications don’t just report or flag or retrieve information from the database; they also write lightweight transactions. With Active Data Guard DML Redirect, those transactions are immediately and transparently redirected back to the primary database, and once committed on the primary, they are made available on the standby. From the user’s perspective, it’s as if they were writing to a standard Oracle Database.”

  1. Both primary and standby databases are running in the cloud, with that Active Data Guard provides users with the flexibility to process.

Hybrid Partitioned Tables: Giles backs Hybrid Partitioned Tables with these three statements

  1.        “Hybrid Partitioned Tables enables database administrators to manage a table between partitions inside the database and partitions held on low-cost read-only data stores outside the database”
  2.        “This means you can use all of the core analytics features of Oracle Database, even when you place data in low-cost read-only storage,” addressed Giles.
  3.         “The beauty of this model is that a table running at the customer’s site could effectively be stretched to the cloud,” he exclaimed

Oracle’s new 19c seems to be a game changer with simplified updates to its users, this upgradation is applauded amongst its customers.
