The buzz around ivy and angular version 8.0 is there for a prolonged time, but the angular team has finally come forward and revealed some of its features which are designed for a better user and developer experience. The future of angular is ivy says a Google developer, though it’s in the development process, let’s have a glimpse of what’s Ivy.

What’s ivy?

Ivy is the next generation rendering pipeline for angular, which is under construction with feedbacks.

Key characteristics

In the last year summit google claimed these two attributes as angular’s key characteristics:

  •   Tree shakable- only pay for what you use
  •   Local- one file at a time

The new angular 8.0 has eradicated some of the major troubles from the previous version, the key features of the upcoming angular version 8.0 and the up gradation are listed below:

Differential Loading of Modern JavaScript

Differentially loaded client-side to increase the loading speed and TTI for modern browsers, in the build process, both legacy (ES5) and modern (ES2015+) JavaScript bundles will be produced by CLI

Angular Router Backwards Compatibility

Backward compatibility mode has been added to simplify the upgrade path of larger projects. By using $route APIs this simplification compatibility will make it easier for teams to move to Angular by allowing lazy loading of parts of AngularJS apps.

Improved Web Worker Bundling

To address the common requests from web developers, bundling has been added to web worker, thereby enhancing the speed and parallelizability of the application.

Opt-In Usage Sharing

Opt-in telemetry has been added to the CLI, with your opt-in consent, anonymous information about commands used and the build speed are collected, using the information a better angular performance is developed.

Dependency Updates

Tools like TypeScript, RxJS, and Node are updated continuously to keep in sync with the rest of the ecosystem.

Opt-in Ivy Preview

With the opt-in ivy preview option now you can see how your application will perform with Ivy and gives feedback to the angular team so that later it is designed with necessary changes and improvements into the full release.

Developer at Google claims that version 8.0 is designed on three principles,

 I. Smaller size

 II. Simpler code generation and

 III. Faster rebuild time

Release date:

With much anticipation this compatible and developer friendly angular 8.0 is believed to be released before the end of this year, the official date is yet to be announced.
