Business Objects is an Analytics tool using which one can report on the data obtained from SAP BW system. The system allows you to create attractive dashboards and easily understandable reports using the reporting tool. SAP BO has a very good integration between SAP BW.
SAP HANA (High-Performance Analytic Appliance)
SAP HANA is software suite developed and marketed by SAP SE. It is an application server which includes in-memory, column oriented RDBMS (Relational Database Management System). The components of SAP HANA include SAP HANA database, SAP HANA client, SAP HANA studio, Sybase Replication Server 15+ ECDA, SAP HANA Load Controller and SAP Host Agent.
The architecture of SAP HANA is designed in such a way that it can handle both complex query processes and high transaction rates on the same platform. Along with the database engine, HANA features an embedded web server and version control repository which could be used for application development processes. Using server-side Javascript and HTML, one can develop HANA applications.
The database of HANA is an in-memory DB with the following features:
- A combination of h/w and s/w, it can process huge amount of real-time data using in-memory computing.
- It has the capability to combine column-based and row-based database technology.
- Data is no longer on hard disk instead it is made to reside on RAM (main memory).
- The tool is best suited to develop and deploy real-time applications and to perform real-time analytics.
Being an in-memory database, all the data gets stored in RAM instead of hard disk. This is a greater advantage as it ensures no time lapse in loading the data to or from the RAM. Even while processing, it keeps some data in RAM and some temporary data on hard disk. It assists CPU with quick access to process data. RAM storage system further offers speed advantages with the use of multi-core CPU’s, multiple boards per server appliance and multiple CPU’s per board.
Any complex calculations are moved to the database layer instead of application layer to speed up the processes. Multiengine query processing is featured in HANA which is equipped to handle relational, graphical or text data within the same system. It can handle huge amounts of data, provides impressive processing speed and text mining capabilities.
