Data storage and security has been a significant concern for many IT organizations. In recent times due to leakage of sensitive data, few organizations made decisions to block export from Power BI and limit user access to sensitive data, declining the rate of productivity. Some are relying on employees to maintain productivity.
The power bi has been working with the Microsoft Information Protection and Cloud App Security team and brought a set of new solutions to address these two main concerns, and they are as follows:
To label sensitive Power BI data with the use of Microsoft Information Protection sensitivity labels used in Office.
To ensure that the data is protected even when Power BI content is exported to Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF.
To monitor and protect sensitive data with alerts, session monitoring, and risk remediation using Microsoft Cloud App Security
To set up security administrators in order to oversee data protection and to investigate security capabilities with Microsoft Cloud App Security
How a sensitive label in power BI works?
Once the new Sensitive labels are applied to the reports, then only authorized users will be able to open the file
Unauthorized users will not be able to open the file:
