Do you know? Selenium suite will support mobile apps too

Selenium Version 2.0 application testing suite comes with support to iPhone and Android apps, with additional BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 features with it. It is an upgrade to one of the world’s leading open source Web application testing tool set, Selenium. This is much anticipated among the testers and quality assurance professionals for the software featuring accommodations for mobile platforms, architectural improvements and other enhancements.
Selenium’s upgrade to support testing of Web applications that run on Apple iPhone and Google Android devices, said Jason Huggins, who found and first built this incredible testing tool, Selenium in the year 2004. It is also hoped that Selenium will be added with Web application testing for Research in Motion BlackBerry and Microsoft Windows Phone 7 devices. Testing of various native device applications also expected to reside within the road map for Selenium. "I think it makes sense for us to expand, to be able to do native apps," said Huggins, attender of Selenium Conference.
Downloadable at the Selenium website
These revolutionary features are packed with Selenium 2.0 and later versions and are readily available for download at the official Selenium website which contains the suite of tools to automate Web testing across different platforms, utilizing multiple browsers and most of the popular operating systems. It is introduced when the majority of software application development was for Web applications and has been geared to testing applications running in desktop browsers. "I think we're witnessing a similar shift now to mobile," said Huggins.
Architectural improvements
There are several architectural enhancements and improvements noted in the Selenium testing tool version 2.0 or later and this will enable Selenium users improvise with testing areas, such as password popups accommodation or security warnings. "There's a lot of under-the-hood cleaning that we've done," said Huggins (CTO and Co-founder at Sauce Labs) which currently offers a popular cloud-based version of Selenium called Sauce on Demand.
The Selenium testing tool serves as the best alternative to various traditional testing tools which require expensive licensing fees. Twist is a tool that supplements Selenium, adding several capabilities like test suite maintenance and improvements. "[Selenium] is more accessible [than commercial tools]. It means that teams work on tests," rather than testing restricted to just the testing teams, Kemp said.
Likewise, there are many other excellent features reside within this open-source testing tool. Many organizations are in need of professionals who have expertise in working with Selenium to test their web applications.
