Dispensing with Manual Work Using Advanced QTP
Quick Test Professional or QTP in short is the process in which the developers and technicians carry out a test on software to assess its relative value. The basic issue that needs to be resolved is- which are the processes that would stay manual and which of the processes would be automated. It is also necessary to understand the pitfalls that stand in the way of implementing the process effectively. Many enterprises are using certified advanced QTP professionals for determination of the quality and effectiveness of the software in use for any purpose.
Automated Testing Software Values
Most of the professionals believe that automated software testing has immense benefits. But the question that is pertinent is to decide on which of the testing processes should be automated and which others would remain manual. Assessment of the same is important and that is what QTP aims to achieve.
Software Testing for Assessment
To assess the quality of the software in question, it has to take into consideration three factors. These factors are as follows:
- Cost of the software and cost-benefit analysis
- Quality of the software and its usability
- Time taken by the software to perform the given task and time taken for testing
However, all these factors are interdependent and none of them are independent.
Software Testing Goal
The software testing goal is usually aimed at decreasing the cost as well as the time that the automated software testing takes. But such economization may not be at the expense of quality of the software in question. Such testing can help the professional people achieve their goal effectively. But to achieve the goal it is necessary for the implementer to know about how to proceed and whatever they can expect from the testing process.
What is meant By Automated Software Testing?
Automated software testing is one of the alternatives to the manual testing. In this case, the test on the software is carried out by the automatic tools and not manually by human beings. These tools execute pre-designed tests on the software in question and assess the use perfectly before the same is released into production. However, it is also required that the testing person should have necessary skills to handle the process appropriately. Else there could be chances of mishandling and wrong results generated by the testing.

Advantages of Automated Testing
There are several advantages of automated software testing.
- Tests can be carried out quickly and repeatedly.
- Test executions are managed by the tools.
- Automatic report generations help in comparison with earlier tests carried out on the software.
Driving Force behind Test Automation Process
Organizations that undertake the testing processes carried out automatically resort to such practices because of the fact that their present approach has been far behind the expectations in some way or the other. Usually such decisions are taken when an organization fails to conduct the testing in a scheduled time span using traditional methodologies. At times, it is also due to the fact that the qualitative aspect of the software could not be assessed appropriately using the traditional methods. It could also be that there are too many defects noticed in the working of the tests carried out.
Saturation Point in Manual Testing
When an organization reaches the saturation point in manual testing, they resort to advanced QT or the automatic testing of software. There are usually two alternatives for the administration in such case- Either they can increase the capabilities and manpower in the testing team or they can go for the automatic testing process. However, the latter is normally the less expensive as well as less time-consuming process of the two.
However, besides the human expertise in handling the automated software testing, it is also necessary to use the best and most efficient tools for it. Otherwise, the entire objective of automated software testing might fail and not generate the desired results.
