In this article, we're looking into CPT (Curricular Practical Training), a work permit for non-immigrant students by the government of United States. This is offered by the employers only after proper agreement with the school or college the candidate studying.
There were two types of CPT offered by US officials. One type of CPT is demanded by the academic educational program. Sometimes the educational course might include a practical working exposure in its course curriculum. In such case, the student needs to get working experience from the employer related to his/her field. And another type of CPT is not declared mandatory by the educational program but the job should be related to his course. This type is considered as credit experience directly related to the field of that study.
Part-Time CPT
In this type, students are allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week.
Full-Time CPT
To work for more than 20 hours per week, students’ needs to get this Full-time CPT.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A student applying for a CPT should have enrolled for a full-time academic course.
- The student should have a job offer from any employer.
- The student should have health insurance that is approved by U-M.
- Student should have lawful F-1 status (Status given for non-immigrant students)
Staffing Companies (Information Technology):
It is recommended by the experts around the world to avail a CPT and employment services from staffing companies in the US. There were several IT staffing companies across the US who are engaged in assisting students for CPT Jobs in the USA. They are also fluent in the formalities and procedures required to process the CPT permit.
Getting CPT Jobs in the USA!
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is an excellent opportunity for students who are pursuing and about to pursue the education in the United States (US). The government of United States created this opportunity to support the students to gain practical knowledge and real time experience pertaining to their field of education.

Part-time CPT Jobs:
If you want to work for less than 20 hours in a week is considered as a part-time CPT Job. Even though there is no restriction for you to work more than twenty hours, you have to attend your full-time classes to complete your education successfully. Failing to maintain the presence in classes will result in difficulties to maintain lawful F-1 status.
Full-time CPT Jobs:
If you are planning to work for more than 20 hours in a week then those jobs are considered as full-time jobs. Normally, students would prefer to enroll for full-time jobs during their vocational holidays. Doing so will help the students not to have any trouble in attending full-time classes to maintain lawful F-1 status.
