Course Overview
Data Discovery and Advanced Profiling using Informatica allow businesses to maximize their analytical report creation process. This course is tailor-made to help students become experts at using Informatica and its BI architecture for data discovery and advanced profiling.
Objectives of the course
The tool intends to make students experts at using the Analyst & Developer tool. Students will be taught how to use the Analyst tool for Data Domain Discovery and executing Enterprise Discovery profiles. In the Developer tool module, training will focus on Creating and executing Enterprise Discovery Profiles, generating DDL for data models and performing several other functions critical to data discovery and profiling.
Target audience
1) Data Analysts
2) Data Stewards
3) Data Quality Developers
Prerequisites
Students having completed Informatica Analyst 10 are eligible to enroll for this course.
What is the agenda for the Data Discovery and Advanced Profiling 10 course?
The agenda for Informatica Data Discovery and Advanced Profiling course is divided into 4 modules. Each successive module is designed to progress the candidate’s learning is using and implementing data discovery and profiling tools and methods.
Module 1: Analyst Tool: Data Domain Discovery and Enterprise Discovery Profiling
The first module will train candidates in data domain profiling, identifying sensitive data and advanced profiling. Lab sessions will further cement practical learning in a real-world scenario.
1) Data Domain Profiling
2) Inferring/identifying sensitive data
3) Building and executing an Enterprise Discovery Profile
Lab sessions
Update a Profile to perform Data Domain Discovery
Create, execute and review an Enterprise Discovery Profile
Module 2: Developer Tool: Advanced Profiling
Profiling is a critical process in data discovery. The second module is designed to make the candidate understand the various varieties of profiling used in data discovery, types of profiles, methods of profiling, etc. Lab sessions are also provided in the module for getting to know the methods and types of profiles in detail.
1) Varieties of Profiling
2) Column and Enterprise Discovery Profiles
3) Navigating an Enterprise Discovery Profile
4) Inference Options
5) Join Analysis Profiling
Lab sessions
a) Create and navigate an Enterprise Discovery Profile
b) Perform Join Analysis Profiling
Module 3: Developer Tool: Functional Dependency and Primary Key Inference
In this module, candidates will be exposed to the concepts of object content, its structure, primary keys, functional dependencies and how they can be used in real-world scenarios.
Object content and structure
1) Primary Keys
2) Functional Dependencies
3) Sensitive Data across all objects in the model
Lab sessions
1) Import and Profile a new set of data
2) Perform Functional Dependency and Primary Key Inference
Module 4: Developer Tool: Overlap Discovery and Foreign Key Profiling
The fourth and final module will discuss topics relating to creating foreign key relationships, verifying and approving relationships and generating DDL for new schema.
1) Overlap Discovery between objects
2) Primary Key – Foreign Key relationships across objects
3) Verifying and Approving relationships
4) Generating DDL to create a new schema
Lab sessions
1) Overlap Discovery
2) Primary Key – Foreign Key relationships
