Across the software and programming communities, Micro services have become the hottest topic over the past year. Its benefits and features are well recognized and appreciated all over the internet. Some of the noteworthy benefits include loose coupling, autonomous services, decentralized governance, easier continuous delivery, and so on.

It is an inherent joy for every programmer to maximize the efficiency and value of the software produced and the tools are meant to help them to achieve that. As a good news for the ears of java professionals, micro-services based java architectures are brought to the world. In the world of web development using Java programming language, such a tool to develop micro-programs would be described as a lightweight tool. Java micro-frameworks have recently become the newest and lean of all the frameworks. Unlike consolidating a huge feature package like that of Java EE or lighter framework like MVC (Model View Controller) supported framework like Spring, micro-frameworks comes to the rescue of programmers by integrating powerful lightweight tools.

The framework known as Lagom is comprised of all the resources that can ease the development of micro-services-based architectures to Java. This revolutionary framework is built using Scala functional language and its APIs are included in addition to Java services APIs. The Lagom platform moreover acts as an open-source platform for the development of these micro-services.

This revolutionary framework also includes several middleware technologies and features such as Lightbend’s Akka, an open-source application where applications can be deployed effectively into the Lightbend’s commercial reactive platform with the help of the message-driven application.

"The Java community needs good tools for creating and managing microservices architectures," he said. "Lagom is squarely aimed at that space", said the Analyst James, Governor of RedMonk. It is also said that the Lagom framework would be the competitor for existing Spring Boot application platform. "It is early days for Lagom, but the design points make sense," RedMonk noted. "So [the company now] is looking to take its experiences and tooling and make them more generally applicable with a Java-first strategy." He also argued that the Typesafe who produces the Lagom platform was focused on Scala, which was adopted in some industries, such as financial services, but never became mainstream, he argues.

There are plenty of talks rumored around the Java and software architecture world and it would be a while to witness the impact after the release of the platform.
